About This Tour

🕌 The two great Silk Road cities in three days, travelling between them on the Sharq high-speed train. Bukhara for the trading domes and the Kalyan minaret; Samarkand for Registan, Gur-Emir and Shah-i-Zinda. What to expect: • Bukhara: Lyabi-Hauz, the trading domes, the Alisher Navoi madrasa, Poi-Kalyan • The Ark fortress, the Samanid mausoleum, Chashma-Ayub • Sitorai Mohi-Hosa — the emir's summer residence • The Bahauddin Naqshbandi complex — if the schedule allows • Samarkand: Gur-Emir, Registan, Shah-i-Zinda, Khoja Doniyor • The Ulugbek observatory • The Konigil paper mill and a carpet workshop • The Siab and Bukhara bazaars • Registan floodlit at night and the Eternal City — optional 🍽 Dinners are not included — you arrange your own on all three evenings. 🚄 The train times depend on the tickets issued and may shift by about an hour either way. The exact meeting time is announced in the participants' group a few days before departure. 🏨 The hotel photographs are indicative. Depending on the departure date and availability, you may be placed in a comparable hotel of the same standard in the same area. 🌍 Foreign nationals (non-residents of Uzbekistan) pay a supplement covering the difference in entrance tickets, hotel registration fees and other mandatory tourist charges. Ask the manager for the amount when booking.

📋 Itinerary

DAY 1 — Bukhara

07:30 — The group meets Tashkent railway station. 08:30 — Departure for Bukhara on the Sharq high-speed train 14:00 — Arrival 14:30–15:30 — Lunch Shurpa, mastava or meatballs to start (depending on the day), manty, salad, bread, tea and water. 15:30–16:00 — Transfer to the hotel 16:00–16:30 — Check-in 16:30–19:30 — A walking tour of old Bukhara Lyabi-Hauz, the trading domes, the Alisher Navoi madrasa, the Poi-Kalyan minaret and Kalyan square. 19:30–20:00 — End of the tour Free time. Bukhara is at its best after dark, when the monuments are lit. Dinner is on your own — it is not included. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 2 — Bukhara to Samarkand

08:00 — Breakfast at the hotel 08:45 — Check out and leave with your luggage 09:00–10:20 — The Ark fortress 10:30–10:50 — The Samanid mausoleum, from outside 11:00–11:20 — The Chashma-Ayub complex, from outside 11:30–12:10 — The eastern bazaar Free time for spices, dried fruit, sweets and souvenirs. 12:30–13:30 — Sitorai Mohi-Hosa The summer residence of the emir of Bukhara. 13:50–14:50 — Lunch Bukhara plov, salad, bread, tea and water. 15:00–15:40 — The Bahauddin Naqshbandi complex This visit depends on keeping to the timings and on the train schedule not changing. 15:40 — Transfer to the railway station 16:55 — Departure for Samarkand 19:20 — Arrival in Samarkand 19:50 — Hotel check-in 20:15 — Optional evening programme Meet at reception, then out to Registan under its evening lighting and to the Eternal City. Dinner is on your own — it is not included. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 — Samarkand

08:00–09:00 — Breakfast Buffet. 09:20–10:20 — The Konigil paper mill 10:45–11:30 — The Gur-Emir mausoleum 11:45–12:45 — Registan Square 13:00–13:40 — The Siab bazaar 14:00–14:50 — Lunch Mastava, minced shashlik, salad, bread, tea and water. 15:00–15:40 — The Shah-i-Zinda complex 16:00–16:40 — A carpet workshop 17:00–17:40 — The Khoja Doniyor mausoleum 18:00–18:30 — The Ulugbek observatory 18:40 — Transfer to the railway station 19:30 — Departure for Tashkent 23:10 — Approximate arrival in Tashkent 🍽 Dinners are not included — you arrange your own on all three evenings. 🚄 The train times depend on the tickets issued and may shift by about an hour either way. The exact meeting time is announced in the participants' group a few days before departure. ⚠️ Times in the programme are approximate and may shift slightly with the train schedule, traffic, weather and other operational factors.
