About This Tour

🏔 Boysun is the mountain country of Surkhandarya: red canyons, thousand-year-old plane trees and a living folk tradition. The Boysun folk ensemble is on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. What to expect: • The Omonkhona sanatorium and a tasting of its mineral water • The Red Canyon — rock formations that look like the surface of Mars • The Ship Canyon • The Sayrob plane trees — thousand-year-old giants and a sacred spring with fish • The Derbent canyon and Boysun's Iron Gates • The Boysun crafts centre — suzani, carpets, traditional dress • A performance by the UNESCO-listed Boysun folk ensemble • The Sangardak waterfall and a walk along the gorge • Boysun plov in a mountain chaikhana 🚆 The tour spans four calendar days and three nights: out on the Friday night train (meeting at 21:13), two days in the south, back on the night train early Monday. Two nights are on the train, one in the hotel. 🛏 One night in a Boysun hotel, in twin rooms. 🚡 The cable car at the Sangardak waterfall runs weather permitting, and only when it is operating.

📋 Itinerary

DAY 1 — Friday

21:13 — The group meets Tashkent South railway station. Departure for Boysun on the night train. Night on the train.

DAY 2 — Saturday, Boysun

08:00 — Arrival at Boysun station Met by the driver and transferred to the hotel. 08:40 — Early check-in and a short rest after the journey 09:00 — A traditional Boysun breakfast 09:30–10:30 — The Omonkhona sanatorium A tasting of the well-known mineral water and a walk through the grounds. 10:45–11:40 — The Red Canyon Red rock and landscapes reminiscent of Mars. Time for photographs. 11:50–12:40 — The Ship Canyon Rock formations of unusual shape. 13:00–14:00 — Lunch, with dishes of the national cuisine 14:20–15:20 — The Sayrob plane trees Thousand-year-old trees — one of them once held a school inside it. There is a sacred spring with fish here too. 15:40–16:20 — The Derbent canyon Driving through Boysun's legendary Iron Gates. 18:00–18:40 — The Boysun crafts centre Meeting the makers: suzani, carpets, traditional dress and souvenirs. 19:00 — Back to the hotel, free time 20:00 — Dinner Afterwards, a performance by the Boysun folk ensemble, listed by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage. Then a disco and free time. Overnight at the hotel.

DAY 3 — Sunday, Sangardak

07:00 — Breakfast 08:00 — Check out and leave with your luggage Mountain passes and wide views along the way. 12:00 — Arrival at the Sangardak waterfall Lunch at a mountain chaikhana With proper Boysun plov. 13:00–16:00 — A walk around Sangardak One of the most beautiful waterfalls in Central Asia, a walk along the gorge, and photographs against the red rock. Free time to rest. 16:00 — On to the town of Denau 17:20 — Arrival at the railway station, document check and boarding 18:00 — The Denau–Tashkent train departs. Night on the train.

DAY 4 — Monday

08:00–09:00 — Approximate arrival in Tashkent. End of the tour. 🚆 The tour spans four calendar days and three nights: out on the Friday night train (meeting at 21:13), two days in the south, back on the night train early Monday. Two nights are on the train, one in the hotel. 🚡 The cable car at the Sangardak waterfall runs weather permitting, and only when it is operating. ⏰ The exact train times depend on the tickets issued and may shift slightly. The current times are posted in the participants' group a few days before departure. ⚠️ Times in the programme are approximate and may change with the train schedule, traffic, weather and other operational factors. The tour assistant may reorder the stops without reducing the content of the programme.
