Samarkand is the most visited city in Uzbekistan: the Registan, the Shah-i-Zinda mausoleums, the Bibi-Khanym mosque and the Imam al-Bukhari complex are all here.
The fast train from Tashkent is the easiest way in — a few hours each way. That makes one-day tours genuinely workable: out in the morning, back in the evening.
Two-day tours add a hotel night and more time to walk the city. Bus options cost less, train options are quicker.
