Bukhara is one of the few cities whose old centre survives almost whole. Lyabi-Hauz, the Poi-Kalon complex, the trading domes and the Ark fortress are all within walking distance of each other.
People usually take the night train from Tashkent: leave in the evening, wake up in the city. Tours are therefore mostly two or three days.
There are pilgrimage tours too — the "Seven Saints" route around Bukhara.
